good morning...

in the parking lot
hudson, ny. aug 21, 2010
photo @ anita aguilar

have a happy weekend...

hudson: the sweet youth...

i like how she rolls. radio flyer, pillow, shades, full backpack and a blow pop.
the city kids have been missing out.

aww.

meet new friend jarvis, who sells delicious, spicy gingerbread (which kept nerves at bay during our accidental "twilight tour" through the catskills...) and cider doughnuts (sister reports hers was still good and fresh the next morning).

rebecca hannon: more porcelain...

i love that these pieces show the artist's hand--for real. these are stamped and cut from porcelain paper, called keraflex, then fused with slurry, and heated at an extremely high temperature...

megaphone earrings
porcelain, gold. 2.25 inch diameter x 1"

goose feather earrings

rebecca hannon: black and white and red (in porcelain)

my sister had the brilliant idea to visit the ornamentum gallery in hudson, new york this weekend to see the work of rebecca hannon, a jewelry artist and assistant professor at the nova scotia college of art & design...

stefan, the gallery owner, was kind enough to allow me to photograph some of her work...

these pieces exemplify "black and white and red all over". i love the juxtaposition of the simple stark background with the delicacy of the porcelain work...

halfmoon necklace
porcelain, cable. 36 inches long, 1" semi-circles

corsage brooch.
porcelain, silver. 3 1/2 x 4 x 2 inches
