austin (summer, sometime)

i've wanted to go to austin for a few years now, and my cousin jen and i were thinking this might be the summer we make it there. tennis hits texas, in the form of the davis cup world group quarterfinals: we'd have roddick v rafa, by day, salt lick bbq, by night. that sounds like a pretty good summer weekend, in my book.

but we might have to start looking for another excuse to head down there: 80 percent of the venue is already sold out. thanks to a usta member pre-sale, they were gone, baby, gone in an hour and 45. good for the usta, i suppose, that its members are so quick draw mcgraw with their credit cards. is this a sign that i should have renewed my membership after all?

i haven't given up hope for dc weekend, or austin in general.

i'm going to get in the spirit starting tomorrow by watching this at work (shhh). maybe it will bring us luck on friday when the rest of the tickets (assume high up in the rafters?) go on sale.
